Property inspections are being ordered by carriers on both current policyholders and certainly new policyholders coming on board. Each carrier is different and ours have made it super user friendly with some requests being sent directly to the insured for self-photo submissions, or they hire an inspection company to come out and grab updated exterior photos. Since these by in large are no longer being required at the agency level, carriers are notifying you directly of inspection if it has been requested. Underwriting is a new ball game these days, they have satellite Imagery before I even enter information beyond a street address, the carrier systems have already let me know if the property looked like it should qualify or not and any items that I should be alerted to like overgrown trees, pools, or trampolines. I set my eyes on it online, go to quote it and the carrier sets their eyes on it via satellite and say yes, then a few years later look at it again. Maintenance and having your home up to date on things like roofing had never mattered more to your bottom line. Be aware and if you have questions email Heather@brooksoninsurance.com.
