Auto pricing is truly all over the place and shopping with several carriers is absolutely a must when you are checking rates out. Some of the rates from some carriers I can't even explain, but it is just where that carrier is on pricing due to the market and their handling of that hard insurance market. While some are holding the line on pricing this year and for some that is a savings. I would honestly say commitment to a carrier is just not being a smart consumer, sucking hundreds in additional costs down is not necessary even in a hard market. The carriers themselves are not that far apart on coverage offerings, so it truly is pricing where the bottom dollar lands in this market. I was so grateful when one of our carriers National General an Allstate Company, contacted us to discuss one of their auto products that is more competitive and how to quote it with their home product to ensure clients also get the multi policy discount on that program because it was not normally offered as a package. Now that is a carrier we appreciate, one that knows one of their products is not as competitive, but another is and finding a bundling solution to make it a better package for incoming clients. Some carriers get down in the dirt with you, so I'm happy to see that movement happening. Shopping is my best advice so you can really see the full market I would say either work with an independent agent or get at least 4 carrier options, so you see the full field of pricing out there.
