Hot off the presses insurance news to be aware of for 2024. I know I've been overly chatting you all up about the changes in this industry, but they have a huge impact on the wallets of our insured family. For the first time in my career as an agent I am now seeing standard carriers requiring 2 to 3 months down for a new auto policy. You see, carriers don't really want new business in 2024 and that's the truth plain and simple. Right now, a new client walking in the door on average is already a 40% loss to that new carrier. That's not worth it to any business. Assuming an average 40% loss on a new client. These are facts. The losses being reported on home and auto policies across this country are at outrageous levels. If the insurance industry were to charge what they need to charge insurance would be unaffordable for most Americans. This industry is quickly changing, and it is not about just being able to someday turn a profit, it's about company survival. Be prepared yet again, if you are needing to change carriers because your company is no longer selling home or auto in Indiana beware and be prepared in some cases to have money saved to switch. I would recommend a minimum of two months. If your company has raised rates which I'm sure they have, think twice about moving. Not only will the sticker shock kill you, but the down payment to start a new policy could be challenging for a family in this market.
